БРАНКА Г. ЛАЗИЋ, редовни члан АИНС од 2002. године, редовни професор у пензији Пољопривредног факултета Универзитета у Новом Саду, рођена је, 1937. године у Суботици отац Груја Грујић, мајка Звезданка, рођена Добрић. Основну школу и гимназију завршила у Новом Сад. Дипломирала на Пољопривредном факултету Универзитета у Новом Саду /1960./ Магистарску тезу одбранила на истом факултету 1967., а докторску 1970. године. За асистента на предмету Повртарство овог факултета изабрана је 1960. године, за доцента 1970. године, ванредног професора 1976. године и за редовног професора 1982. године. Поред предмета Повртарство на Пољопривредном факултету у Новом Саду, Сарајеву и Земуну предавала је и Цвећарство. На последипломским студијама руководила је групом Производња поврћа. Била је у два мандата шеф Катедре за ратарство и повртарство, а декан Пољопривредног факултета у периоду од 1985-1989. године. Поред специјализације у Бугарској (1965, 1972), Холандији (1974) била је на више студијских боравака у Русији, Молдавији, САД, Мађарској, Алжиру, Сирији, Кини.

У Научно друштво Србије изабрана је 1996. године, а за почасног члана Руске академије природних наука изабрана је маја 1999. године. Члан је International Society for Horticultural Science од 1974. У оквиру АБИ/САД/ и IBC/Cambridge/ бирана је више пута у различита саветодавна тела и лидере. Била је члан Управног одбора Матице српске и члан Савета енциклопедље Југославије (1974-1990). Била је главни и одговорни уредник југословенског часописа за пољопривреду, “Савремена пољопривреда" (1991-1996), затим члан уређивачког одбора научног часописа “Ecologica" (1994-1999). У времену 1992-2000. године била је члан Југословенске комисије за признавање сорти пољопривредног биља.

Била је председник организационих или програмски одбора десет југословенских и међународних сипозијума и бројних саветовања из области повртарсва, исхране, генетских ресурса, органске производње).

Била је потпредседник Скупштине општине Новог Сада (1974-1978), потпредседмк Скупштине САП Војводине (1978-1982), председник Савезне конференције за активност жена Југославије (1982-1983). Била је председник Савета културне манифестације, “Бранково коло" Сремски Карловци (1975-1977), затим Савета Змајевих дечијих игара (1983-1992) и председник Савета “Галерије спомен збирке Рајка Мамузића" (1982-1984), а сада је члан Извршног одбора Пољопривредног музеја Кулпм (1993-). Један је од оснивача еколошких удружења “Врело" Нови Сад, Терра'с, Суботица., Хуманитарни центар за интеграцију и толеранцију и Зелене мреже Војводине/Нови Сад/

Др Бранка Лазић носилац је Ордена заслуга за народ са сребрним зрацима (1979), Повеље града Новог Сада (1979); Награде ослобођења Војводине (1984); Првомајске награде савеза синдиката Новог Сада (1984 и 1998); Medal of the International Society for Horticultural Science — Section of Vegetables (1996); награде Привредне коморе Војводине (1998) и Повеље за животно дело Удружења универзитетских наставника Нови Сад за 1998. годину.

Удовица, кћерка проф. др Сања Лазић, ред. проф, зет Мирослав Кричковић, дипл. инг. геодезије и унук Лука.

Научни рад проф, др Бранке Лазић обухвата истраживања биолошких особина поврћа, утицаја агроеколошких и агротехничких мера на раст и развиће, принос и квалитет поврћа развој производње у заштићеном простору, затим прикупљање л изучавање аутохтоних еко типова и сорти поврћа као и самониклих врста, посебно Allium sp. и могућност њихове реинтродукције и гајења. Квалитет поврћа органскеи методе гајења поврћа на отвореном пољу, башти и заштићеном простору чине посебну целину остварених резултата и њихову примену у производњи.

До сада је објавила и саопштила 330 наслова, 34 студија и пројеката и коаутор је прве југословенске сорте црног лука-купусински јабучар (1980,2001). Објавила је 20 књига као једини или први аутор од “Баште зелене целе године" (1982, 1986) преко уџбеника за средње пољопривредне школе до три издања универзитетског удзбеника “Повртарство" и Органске производње поврћа Руководила је готово свим научним пројектима из широке обласрти повртарства од 1974 до 2002, као и међународним пројектима IBPRG (No 84/103); YU-US joint project "Methods of improving yield and quality of high value vegetables (1986-1990), директор националног програма “Поврће, кромпир, цвеће’’. Велики део пројеката и резултата примењен је у стакленицима, затим у органској производњи поврћа, био-башта", Била је ментор за 7 докторских теза, и 14 магистарских и водила је усавршавање више домаћих и страних доктораната.

BRANKA G. LAZIĆ, Full Member of the AESS from 2002, Full Professor of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Novi Sad, was bom on September 8, 1937 in Subotica, by father Gruja Grujic and mother Zvezdanka, b. Dobric. Elementary school and senior high school completed in Novi Sad. Graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Novi Sad in 1960. At the same faculty she obtained her M.Sc. in 1967 and Ph.D. degree in 1970. She was appointed Teaching Assistant for the course "Vegetable Crops" at this faculty of in 1960, Assistant Professor in 1970, Associate Professor in 1976, and Full Professor in 1982. In addition to the course "Vegetable Crops" at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, she has taught vegetable crops in Sarajevo and Zemun, as well as floriculture. She is also a supervisor of a group of postgraduate courses titled "Vegetable Production". Professor Lazic was Head of the Chair for Field and Vegetable Crops for two terms and Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture from 1985 to 1989. Besides the specialist training that she received in Bulgaria (1965, 1972) and the Netherlands (1974), she has made study tours to Russia, Moldavia, USA, Hungary, Algeria, Syria and China.

She became a member of the Scientific Society of Serbia in 1996 and honorary member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences in May 1999. She is a member of the International Society for Horticultural Science since 1974. The American Biographical Institute selected her for honorary appointment to the Research Board of Advisors (1989) and included her in "The International Directory of Distinguished Leadership" (1994). The International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, included her in the publication "Men and Women of Distinction" (1990). She was member of the Board of Directors of Matica Srpska Cultural Institution and of the Council of "Encyclopaedia of Yugoslavia" (1974-1990). She was editor in chief of the Yugoslav agricultural journal "Contemporary Agriculture" from 1991 to 1996 and a member of the Board of Editors of the scientific journal "Ecologica" from 1994 to 1999. From 1992 to 2000, she was a member of the Yugoslav Federal Commission for Approval of Varieties and Hybrids of Agricultural Crops.

Professor Lazic presided over organizational or program boards of 10 Yugoslav and a number of international consultative meetings or symposia on horticulture, nutrition, genetic resources and organic production.

She was Vice-president of the Municipal Parliament of Novi Sad (1974 -1978), Vice-president of the Assembly of SAP Vojvodina (1978-1982), and President of the Federal Conference for the Activity of Women of Yugoslavia (1982-1983). She was President of the Board of the cultural festival "Branko's Reel", Sremski Karlovci (1975-1977), President of the Board of "Zmaj's Children Festival" (1983-1992), and President of the Board of the Memorial Gallery of Rajko Mamuzic 1982-1984). Presently, she is a member of the Executive Board of the Agricultural Museum of Kulpin (1993-). She was co-founder of the ecological societies "Spring", Novi Sad, and "Terra's", Subotica.

Dr. Branka Lazic is recipient of the Decoration of Merit to the People with Silver Rays (1979), Charter of the City of Novi Sad (1979); Vojvodina Liberation Award (1984); May-Day Award of the Trade Union Association of Novi Sad (1984 and 1998); Medal of the International Society for Horticultural Science — Section of Vegetables (1996); Award of the Chamber of Commerce of the Vojvodina Province (1998), and the Charter for Lifetime Achievement of the Society of University Professors of Novi Sad (1998).

She is a widow, has a daughter, Prof Dr Sanja Lazic, son in law Miroslav Krickovic, B.Sc, grandson Luka.

Topics of Professor Lazic's scientific work include the research of biological characteristics of vegetables, study of the effect of agro-ecological and agro-technical measures on the growth, development, yield and quality of vegetables, collection and study of indigenous ecotypes and varieties of vegetables, especially Allium sp., and the study of possibilities of reintroducing and commercial growing of indigenous species. She achieved outstanding results in the study of quality of vegetables and ecological methods (bio-garden) for the field, garden and indoor production of vegetables.

She has published or presented 330 titles, 34 studies and projects and she was a co-author of the first Yugoslav onion variety "Kupusinski jabucar" (1980). She published 20 books, (the co-author or the first author) from "Gardens Green All Year Round" (1982, 1986, 2008), a textbook for agricultural high schools and three editions of the university textbooks ‘’Gardening’’ and ‘’Organic vegetable production’’.

She was leader of a large number of research projects on the improvement of vegetable production and processing (1975-2002) by conventional and ecological methods (eco-vegetables), the international project IBPRG (No 84/103); YU-US joint project "Methods of improving yield and quality of high value vegetables" (1986-1990) and the national project "Collection and maintenance of plant gene fund for the needs of the Bank of Plant Genes of Yugoslavia" (1989-1992). She has supervised 14 M.Sc. theses, 7 Ph.D. theses, and conducted post-graduate training courses for domestic and international experts.
