VALERY GEORGIEVICH GRADETSKY, Foreign Member of AESS from 2000, Professor of Robotics and Automation, Head of the Robotics and Mechatronics Laboratory at the Institute for Problems in Mechanics, Russian Academy of Sciences, was born in 1935 in Moscow, Russia.

Education: B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Bauman Moscow High Technical School (now State Technical University, Moscow) (1958); Candidate of Sciences (Ph.D.) degree (1964), the dissertation dealt with space technology and the development of control of fluidic elements for hazardous environment. Doctor of Sciences degree in (1984), the thesis dealt with the theory and development of sensory systems for robots subjects to extreme external disturbances acting on the robot′s grippers.

Professional positions: From 1958 to 1975 Engineer, Senior Research Scientist, the Institute for Control Sciences, USSR Academy of Sciences; From 1975 to 1981 Head of the Laboratory and Department, Research Institute of Introscopy, Since 1981 to the present, Head of the Laboratory, The Institute for Problems in Mechanics, Russian Academy of Sciences, Also, he is Professor of Robotics and Automation.

Visits: Presented many lectures at international conferences in Europe and in USA, including visits to Yugoslavia.

Membership to academies, professional and scientific societies: Acting member of the International Informatization Academy, Acting member of the Scientific Council for Robotics and Automation, Russian Academy of Sciences, Foreign member of the Engineering Academy of Yugoslavia, Member of the Scientific Council of the Institute for Problems in Mechanics, Member of Professional Scientific Council for awarding the Doctor Degrees in “Mosstankin”, Technological University and Moscow Automobile Road Technical University.

Scientific and Professional Achievements: Total number of published scientific papers and patents is 255, as well as five professional books. Total number of scientific and development projects more than 50. Presently, Professor Gradetsky is the leader of 9 projects under development in the area of robotics, microsystems and intelligent automation. In the last ten years, the most important scientific achievements have been the following projects: Theory and methods of fluidic pneumatic systems, Extremal controllers for optimization of technological processes and mechanical objects, Applied theory and development of sensory systems for manipulation robots in the presence of external disturbances, Motion of mobile robots in undertermined and unstructured environments, Development of intelligent manipulation robots, Mechanics and control of wall-climbing robots with transition possibilities, Mobile wall-climbing robots for different environments and applications; Mechanics of mobile microrobots and microsystems, and their application in medicine; Fuzzy control and soft computing in robotics; Simulation methods and systems; Motion of intelligent mobile robots in dynamically changing environment; Mechatronics modular design for mobile autonomous vehicles.

Mentorship: more than 20 master theses and 9 doctoral theses.

ВАЛЕРИЈ ГЕОРГИЈЕВИЧ ГРАДЕЦКИ, инострани члан АИНС од 2000, професор роботике и аутоматике, директор Лабораторије за мехатронику, Институт за проблеме механике Руске академије наука, Москва, рођен је 1935 године у Москви.

Школовање: Године 1958. дипломирао на Машинском инжењерству Московске високе техничке школе „Бауман” (данас Московски државни технички универзитет). Године 1964. одбранио кандидатску дисертацију која се тематски односила на васионску технологију и развој управљачких флуидичких елемената за хазардне околине. Године 1984. дисертацију за стицање титуле доктора наука из области развоја сензорских система за роботе који су подвргнути снажним спољњим поремећајима који делују на хватаљке робота.

Кретање у служби: Од 1958 до 1970, инжењер, старији истраживач у Институту за управљање, Академије наука СССР-а; Од 1975 до 1981, руководилац Лабораторије и Одсека Истраживачког института за интроскопију. Од 1981. до данас на положају директора Лабораторије за роботику у Институту за проблеме у механици Руске академије наука. Такође је професор роботике и аутоматике.

Студијске посете: Учествовао на бројним домаћим скуповима, као и у раду многих конференција у Европи и Америци, укључујући Југославију.

Чланство у академијама и стручним и научним друштвима: Инострани члан Инжењерске академије Југославије; Члан Интернационалне академије за информатику; Члан Научног савета за роботику и аутоматику Руске академије наука; Члан Научног савета Института за проблеме механике; Члан Стручно-научног савета за одбрану докторских дисертација на Технолошком универзитету „Мосстанкин” у Московском Техничком универзитету за друмска возила.

Значајна стручна признања: Државна награда Руске Федерације за развој теорије и управљачких метода за механичке системе, неколико државних медаља за достигнућа у истраживању и развоју робота и мехатроничких аутоматских система.

Значајна научна и стручна достигнућа: Професор Градецки има око 255 публикованих научних радова и патената, као и пет стручних књига. Водио је више од 50 научних и развојних пројеката. Сада води девет пројеката из области роботике, микросистема и интелигентне аутоматизације.Последњих година најзначајнија научна достигнућа су реализована у следећим пројектима: Теорија и методе флуидних и пнеуматских система; Екстремални контролери за оптимизацију технолошких процеса и механичких објеката; Примењена теорија и развој сензорских система за манипулационе роботе под утицајем екстерних поремећаја; Кретање мобилних робота у недефинисаним околинама; Развој манипулационих интелигентних робота; Механика и управљање робота који се крећу по зиду са могућностима прелаза на хоризонталну подлогу; Мобилни роботи за кретање по зиду за различите средине и примене; Механика мобилних микроробота и микросистема и њихова примена у медецини; Фази-управљање и интелигентно управљање у роботици; Симулационе методе и системи; Кретање интелигентних мобилних робота у динамички променљивој околини; Мехатроничко модуларно конструисање аутономних возила.

Менторство: Професор Градецки је био руководилац више од двадесет магистарских теза и девет докторских дисертација.
