Prof. Dr Aleksandar Djorđa Gajić, Redovni član Akademije Inženjerskih Nauka Srbije od 2008 g.,

Državni sekretar MPNTR, redovni profesor Mašinskog fakulteta Univerziteta u Beogradu od 1996 g., gostujući profesor Tohoku Univerziteta, Japan. Član je  Izvršnog saveta Internacionalnog  udruženja za hidraulična istraživanja IAHR – Sekcija za hidraulične mašine i sisteme, 1996-2002, 2002-2008. Rodjen je  25.08.1950.  g. u  Beogradu. Diplomirao je na Mašinskom fakultetu u Beogradu 1974., magistarsku tezu je odbranio 1978., a doktorsku disertaciju 1983. g. Održavao nastavu iz  7 predmeta na dodiplomskim i 6 predmeta na poslediplomskim studijama,  počasni predavač na 4-om Evroazijskom Ekonomskom Forumu EAEF2013 Xi An, Energetika profesor izvestilac Chalmers Univerziteta Geteborg, Još jedan uvodni referat na Konferenciji u Pekingu 2013. godine.

 Od oktobra 1975. zaposlen je na  Mašinskom Fakultetu u Beogradu,  za redovnog profesora je izabran maja 1996. Održavao je nastavu iz 7 predmeta na dodiplomskim i 6 predmeta na poslediplomskim studijama.  Izabran je za gostujućeg profesora japanskog Nacionalnog Instituta za nauku o fluidima, Tohoku Univerziteta 1993/1994. g.

 U dosadašnjem  nastavno-naučnom radu  bio  je  angažovan na Prirodno matematičkom fakultetu u Beogradu,  Elektrotehničkom fakultetu u Beogradu, Mašinskim  fakultetima  u  Podgorici i Kraljevu. Bio je član  komisija  za  izbor  nastavnika na Univerzitetima u Beogradu, Kragujevcu, Nišu, Novom Sadu, Podgorici, Temišvaru.

Držao je seminare na Univerzitetima, Institutima i kompanijama u V. Britaniji, Japanu, i Jugoslaviji. Imao je uvodna predavanja i radove po pozivu na medjunarodnim simpozijumima održanim u Brazilu, Jugoslaviji, Japanu.

 Član je više naučnih  i  stručnih  organizacija. Po pozivu je  član  Institution  of  Diagnostic  Engineers,  section   Experts  -  International  Directiry od  1987. Predsednik je Komisije  za  standarde  hidrauličkih turbina Saveznog zavoda za standardizaciju SZS-KSN4 od 1992. godine. Izabran je za člana sekretarijata Judoslovenskog Društva za Hidraulična  Istraživanja JDHI,  od 1994. Od 1995. je kao jugoslovenski, a kasnije srpski predstavnik izabran za člana International Electrotechnical Commission -  IEC,  Technical  Committee No. 4 - Hydraulic Turbines. Sada je član matičnog odbora za vode Ministarstva nauke Srbije.

Bio je član Izvršnog odbora i Predsednik saveta Mašinskog fakulteta u Beogradu, predsednik je nevladine organizacije Srpsko-japansko društvo, član redakcijskog odbora medjunarodnog časopisa “FME Transactions”.

 Istraživačka delatnost prof. Gajića obuhvata  analizu  strujanja  u  hidroenergetskim sistemima,  izučavanje njihovih prelaznih  režima, utvrdjivanje parametara ekonomičnosti rada postrojenja i optimalnu eksploataciju razvoj metoda za povećanje   pouzdanosti  opreme i raspoloživosti hidroelektrana. Uporedo se bavi eksperimentalnim istraživanjima u laboratorijama i na izgradjenim objektima. Primer takvih istraživanja su ispitivanja HE “Djerdap I” i HE “Perućica” na osnovu kojih je povećana snaga za po oko 20%! U sistemu za transport vodonika Rafinerije nafte Pančevo je otklonio uzroke nedopuštenih vibracija i doveo sistem u stanje dozvoljene eksploatacije. Rukovodio je primopredajnim i kompleksnim ispitivanjem više od 10 hidroelektrana, učestvovao u ispitivanju preko 35 vodoprivrednih i hidroenergetskih objekata, primio modelska ispitivanja više hidrauličkih turbina na prostorima bivše Jugoslavije. Saradivao je pri projektovanju hidromašinske  opreme hidroenergetskih i termoenergetskih postrojenja niza objekata u Jugoslaviji, Iraku, Iranu, Jordanu, Kipru... Pored toga učestvovao je u razradi tenderske dokumentacije za oko 10 velikih hidrotehničkih sistema.

Projektovao je i ispitivao pumpe za hemijsku i petrohemijsku industriju, specijalne ventilatore male snage za ventilaciju skloništa, visokopritisne i kotlovske ventilatore velike snage za termoelektrane u zemlji i inostranstvu. Autor je ili koautor više softvera za proračun krutog i elastčnog hidrauličnog udara u hidroenergetskim sistemima. Razvio je metode kompleksnih ispitivanja hidroelektrana radi evaluacije pouzdanosti hidromašinske i regulacione opreme, u cilju optimizacije revitalizacije i modernizacije hidroelektrana. Izvršio je analize nestacionarnih strujanja za preko 50 velikih hidrotehničkih sistema.

Objavio je kao autor ili koautor preko 10 univerzitetskih knjiga i oko 24 pomoćna udžbenika, preko 160 naučnih radova na srpskom, engleskom, ruskom jeziku, od kojih je više preglednih članaka,  preko  200 istraživačkih  izveštaja. Rukovodio je izradom 18 strateških istraživačkih projekata, studijama nacionalnog i regionalnog značaja finansiranih od strane Republičkog Ministarstva Nauke,  elektroprivrednih i vodoprivrednih organizacija. Učestvovao je u realizaciji 30 studija. Citiran je u preko 80 radova publikovanih u medjunarodnim i domaćim  časopisima  i zbornicima referata, kao i u časopisu Citation Index. Od ovih su oko 40 medjunarodni citati, čiji su autori iz:  SAD-a,  Rusije, Kine, Nemačke, Japana, Brazila, Češke, Norveške,  Urugvaja, Švajcarske, Slovenije, …

Saopštavao je radove  i  držao predavanja  po   pozivu   u   Engleskoj, Brazilu, Japanu i Jugoslaviji. Učestvovao je na nizu medjunarodnih simpozijuma,  konferencija  i kongresa. Bio je član naučnih i programskih odbora  naučnih skupova održanih u Beogradu, Lozani, Madridu, Pekingu, Singapuru, Stokholmu, Šarlotu, Temišvaru, Tokiju,Valenciji Barseloni, Jokohami, Iguasu-Brazilu, Pekingu.... Bio je potpredsednik organizacionog odbora 15-og IAHR Simpozijuma1990.g., predsednik medjunarodne konferencije “Case Studies in Hydraulic Systems”, održane pod pokroviteljstvom SANU i IAHR 2003 g, kao i IAHR WG  Meeting “Cavitation and Dynamic Problems in Hydraulic Machinery and Systems”, Belgrade, 2011.

Oženjen je, supruga Snežana (rodjena Popara) Gajić, deca ćerke Jelena  Djindjić i Ivana Gajić.

Born 1950, August 25-th in Belgrade. Elementary school finished in village Vranić near Belgrade, high school in  Železnik 1969. Graduated at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, in Belgrade in 1974., M.Sc. has got in 1978., Ph.D.  (Engineering) has got at University of Belgrade with thesis: A Contribution to the Study of Nonstationary Phenomena in Hydroelectric Power Plant.

In October 1975. he obtained a job of  Research Assistant at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Hydraulic Machinery. From January 1996. Become Professor at the same faculty. He has taught 7 graduate courses and 6 post-graduate courses. Had become visiting researcher-professor at Institute of Fluid Science, Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan in 1993/94.

He has worked part time at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Belgrade, Faculty of Electrotechnical Engineering, Belgrade, at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Kraljevo and at the Faculty of Techniques, Podgorica. He has been member of the commission for selection of professors and collaborators at the Universities in Belgrade, Kragujevac, Niš, Novi Sad and Podgorica.

Prof Gajić has given a number of lectures and seminars at the universities, institutions and companies in Great Britain, Japan, and Yugoslavia. He has delivered invited lectures in a number of international symposia held in Brazil, China, Yugoslavia and Japan. During his visiting professorship in Japan had given 7 seminars in the field of transient regimes, hydraulic oscillations and earthquake effects upon the hydraulic structures at following institutes and companies: Nagoya University, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries-Takasago Research Center, National Aerospace Laboratory - Kakuda Research Center, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Toshiba Co.- Toshiba Science Institute, Tokyo, Yokohama National University, and recently in Institute of Fluid Science.

In the frame of his research cooperation with Warwick University he visited research center North of Scotland Hydroelectric Board and Central Electricity Generating Board, and several hydropower plants including the pumped storage power station “Dinorwig” during its commissioning. Similarly, in the course of collaboration with the “Furnitas” electric company he visited the largest constructed hydroelectric power plant in the World “Itapu-Binacional”. During cooperation with colleagues from Tsinghua University, Bejing visited “Three Gorges” the largest HPP in the world.

 

Prof Gajić has been involved in several research and engineering organizations: he has been a member of the Institution of Diagnostic Engineers - sect. Experts-International Directory, since 1987, member of Yugoslav Institution for Standardization - Commission for Hydraulic Machinery since 1982., and its president since 1992, committee member of Yugoslav Association for Hydraulic Research since 1994.He has also been a member of IEC-TC4, International Electrical Commission, Technical Committee - Hydraulic Turbines, as the Yugoslav representative since 1995., and a member of the Executive Committee International Association for Hydraulic Research, Section for Hydraulic Machinery and Cavitation, 1997-2009.

He was a member of the Executive Committee and the President of the Council of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Belgrade. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the international journal “FME Transactions” of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Belgrade from 2002-2006. He was serving as Special Advisor to Minister of Mining and Energy, Government of Serbia, 2008-2011.

 He is married, wife Snežana (born Popara), has two daughters, Jelena and Ivana Gajić.

 

Scientific and engineering realizations: The research interest of prof. Gajić has been in the domain of the analysis of flow in hydraulic machinery and systems, study of hydraulic transient regimes, rationalization and optimal exploitation of the multifunctional water supply and hydropower systems, development of the methods reliability of hydro mechanical equipment and availability of  hydro power plants.

He has developed mathematical models and numerical programs and also experimental methods for laboratory model tests and field tests measurements in situ. These numerical-experimental study were applied to the HPP “Iron Gate” (he was principal investigator) which resulted in an increase of the unit output from 172 to 200 MW. In the case of the HPP “Perućica”  similar dynamic tests, carried out under his supervision, resulted in an increase of total power output from 245 MW to 290 MW. The application of numerical and experimental methods applied onto the Belgrade Waterworks main tunnel, with 5 pumping stations on it, resulted in significant increase of total discharge. He commissioned more then 10 hydropower plants, and supervised the investigations of more than 35 water supply and hydropower systems, tested several turbine models for HPPs constructed in all the states of former Yugoslavia.

He revised or participated in commissioning projects for hydropower plants, water supply and drainage systems (hydro mechanical equipment, unit, penstocks) specially treated transient regimes. He participated in designing of equipment for hydropower and thermo power plants in Yugoslavia, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, and Cyprus and in preparing tendering documents for more than 10 hydraulic systems.

Prof. Gajić author or co-author more than 15 university books, 24 textbooks, over 150 papers in Serbian, English and Russian, several of them are invited papers at international symposia and seminars or published in journals, and over 200 research Reports. He has been head of 15 national or regional research projects, financed by the National Ministry of Science and Technology, Electrical Board of Serbia, Ministry of agriculture and water and regional waterworks. He participated in realization of 28 research studies. He has more than 80 citations published in international and national journals and symposium or congress proceedings, as well as in Citation Index. More than 40 of them are international citations by authors from the USA, Russia, China, Germany, Japan, Brazil, Czech, Norway, Uruguay, Swiss, etc.

He has acted as standing fellow in research projects in some organizations and institutions. He has collaborated at the Mathematical Institute, Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and participated in the realization of research projects in the  "Jaroslav Černi"  Institute, Belgrade, then the Institute of Technical Sciences of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Institute "Nikola Tesla"-Belgrade, Institute for Economic Sciences -Belgrade, Faculty of Electrotechnical Engineering -Belgrade, Faculty of Electrical Engineering- Zagreb. He is honorary fellow or consultant engineer to: “Energoprojekt Co” -Belgrade, “Electricity Board of Serbia”, Belgrade, “Electricity Board of Montenegro“, “Belgrade Waterworks”, “Yugoslav Electrical Production Association” and “Energoinvest MDP”- Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 

He has designed and tested pumps for chemical and petrochemical industry, special small fans for refuges ventilation, high pressure fans and blowers, boiler fans. He was the leading researcher for the analysis of accidents in 40 bar hydrogen compressor system in refinery Pancevo, and its reconstruction. Special developing was a construction of axial reverse flow fan AR1000, for underground station ventilation and eventually reversing smoke gas in case of fire. He is author or co-author of several software packages for elastic and rigid waterhammer analysis in hydraulic installations, for evaluation of reverse waterhammer in Kaplan and bulb turbines, for hydraulic oscillations in pressured installations. He developed methods for field tests of HPP in order to evaluate reliability of hydrounit, hydro mechanical and governing equipment, and optimization of plant modernization. He made transient analysis for more than 50 hydraulic systems in former Yugoslavia and abroad.

Prof. Gajić presented the invited papers and seminars in Great Britain, Brazil, China, Japan, Yugoslavia and participated in the international symposia and congresses held in the USA, Great Britain, Japan, China, Brazil, Bulgaria, Hungary, Mexico, Germany, Norway, The Netherlands, France, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Romania, Sweden, etc. He was member of organizing or scientific committee of several international meetings held in Belgrade, Madrid, Charlotte, Tokyo, Timisoara, Barcelona, Yokohama 2006 Timisoara 2007. He was Vice-chairman of the 15-th IAHR Symposium, Belgrade,1990. and Chairman of the Int. conf. “Case Studies in Hydraulic Systems”, Belgrade, 2003., and of 4-th IAHR-WG1 meeting, “Cavitation and Dynamic Problems in Hydraulic Machinery”, Belgrade, 2011.
