САЊА ВРАНЕШ, дописни члан АИНС од 2007. године. Дипломирала је на Eлектротехничком факултету Универзитета у Bеограду 1980. године, са просечном оценом 9.41. Уписала је последипломске студије на истом факултету и 1986. године одбранила магистарски рад под насловом “Aрхитектура и програмска подршка микрорачунара са расподељеном интелигенцијом за примене у реалном времену”. Докторску дисертацију “Мултипарадигматична љуска експертског система са архитектуром школске табле” одбранила је јануара 1993.године.

По дипломирању се запослила у Институту “Михајло Пупин”, где и данас ради као Научни директор, чији је задатак да дефинише истраживачко развојне (ИР)  приоритете института и подстиче развој ИР потенцијала, координира текуће ИР пројекте, формулише предлоге међународних ИР пројеката, реализује сарадњу са угледним међународним инситутцијам итд. Од доласка на ту функцију, број истраживач-месеци на ИР пројектима Института је повећан је 220%, број истраживача у научним звањима је повећан за 90%, добијена су 32 уговора за међународне ИР пројекте и основана је заједничка пројектна канцеларија са реномираним институтом Fraunhofer FIRST из Немачке (Fraunhofer Pupin Joint Project Office)..

Основно стручно опредељење Сање Вранеш је рачунарски софтвер, како апликативни тако и системски, и то претежно у областима симулације и управљања сложеним системима у реалном времену, те вештачке интелигенције, експертних система, система за подршку одлучивању, семантичког Web-a и интелигентних апликација на интернету. Руководила је преко 30 софтверских пројеката из поменутих области. Руководила је тимом института у 20 истраживачких пројеката које је финансирала Европска унија (WEB4WeB, PROMETEA, SARIB, I2E, STRiM, REFLECT, PERFECTION, HELENA, ICT-WEB-PROMS, HydroWEEE, EnergyWARDEN, EMILI, GREEN, PROCEED, CESAR, METANET, FORSEE, CASCADE, LOD2, WEEEN). Пројекат Шестог Оквирног програма Европске Уније WEB4WeB који је коодинирала био је оцењен као најбољи пројекат у целом позиву, од укупно преко 300 пријављених пројеката.

У настави на редовним и последипломским студијама на Eлектротехничком факултету у Bеограду учествује од 1995.г, када је изабарана за доцента на Kатедри за рачунарску технику (Предмет: “Програмирање у реалном времену” на основним и “Софтверски системи за рад у реалном времену” на докторским студијама). Маја 2001 изабрана је за ванредног професора на истом факултету.

У току 1988.г. била је на стручном усавршавање на Универзитету UCLA у СAД. Школске 1993.-1994. године боравила је на Универзитету у Бристолу, Eнглеска, где је била ангажована  у настави и на истраживачким пројектима (Eureka и BriteEuram). У току 1994. и 1995 године држала је серију предавања на Универзитету у Lондону (King’s College London, Goldsmith’s College, London). У периоду 1999.-2005. године држала је низ семинара на Iнститутима у Iталији (ICS-UNIDO International Centre for Science and High Technology, ICTP-International Centre for Theoretical Physics). Док Србија није имала право институционалног учешћа на пројектима оквирног програма Европске Уније, учествовала је индивидуално у својству научног саветника, у пројектима Петог Оквирног Програма у име Института ICS-UNIDO и научног парка AREA Science Park иѕ Трста.

Гостујући је уредник специјалних издања међунардоних часописа Robotics and Computer Integratied Manufacturing International Journal (Pergamon Press/Elsevier Publisher) и Mathematics and Computers in Simulation (North Holland). Рецензент је у међународних часописа IEEE Computer и Advances in Engieneering Software (Elsevier). Рецензент је и пројеката Шестог и Седмог Оквирног Програма Европске Уније. Учествује у организовању међународних научних и стручних скупова. Била је председник организационог комитета Eвропске конференције за роботику и интелигентне системе (EURISCON European Robotics and Inteligent Systems Conference), која је под покровитељством IEEE и IEE одржана у Шпанији 1994. и копреседник међународне конференције MEDIMEC 95 (The Second International Conference: Mechatronic in Medicine and Surgery), која је, под покровитељством IEE, IEEE i IMechE, одржана у Eнглеској 1995. Представник је Jугославије, односно СЦГ у Међународним Програмским Kомитетима многобројних конференција (Mechatronics 96, Португалија 1996, M2VIP, Аустралија 1997, IASTED Technical Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems за период 2002-2008, , IEEE EUROCON 2005, IASTED International Conference on Intelligent Systems and Control 2006, IEEE Nikola Tesla Symposium 2006 IASTED International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Applications 2006, 2007, 2008, LIKE’07, LIKE’08, LIKE’09, LIKE’10, language technology conferences, European Conference on Knowledge Service Production, CENTERIS 2010 – Conference, итд.

Сања Вранеш је објавила преко 180 научних и стручних радова, од којих неке у најугледнијим часописима из области електротехнике и рачунарства (IEEE Transactions). За објављене радове добила је и награду из фондације Проф. Бранка Раковића. Добитник је награде Никола Тесла за достигнућа у области техничких наука  за 1996. годину. Добила је и две награде  за најбољи софтверски пакет. Именована је за Eксперта Уједињених Нација за област информационих технологија 1999. године и Експерта Европске Уније 2005. године. Члан је професионалних удружења IEEE, IEEE Computer Society и ACM. У највише научно звање Научни саветник изабрана је 2003. године. Члан је Националног савета за науку (два мандата).

SANJA VRANEŠ, corresponding member AESS from 2007. Sanja Vraneš graduated at the School of Electrical Engineering of the University of Belgrade in 1980, with the GPA 9.41/10.00. She enrolled into the graduates programme at the same School and in 1986 she defended the Master thesys entitled  „Architecture and software support of the distributed microcomputer for real time applications“. In January 1993 she defended the PhD thesys entitled  „Multiparadigm environment for blackboard based expert systems development“. She has been employed at the Institute Mihailo Pupin ever since she graduated.  She is currently apointed as a Scientific Director whose duties are to define research and development (R&D) priorities of the Institute and encourage the development of R&D potential, raise the funds for new research projects, coordinate the existing ones, formulate the proposals for the international funding sources, establish the cooperation with the eminent international institutions etc. Since she become a Scientific Director, the number of funded R&D projects of the Institute has been grown for 220%, the number of the researchers with highest academic titles (PhD) has grown for 90%, 32 contracts for international R&D projects have been received and the Joint Project Office  has been established with the biggest and the most respectfull European research Institute in ICT area, Fraunhofer, from Germany (Fraunhofer-Pupin Joint Project Office).

The primary professional orientation of Sanja Vraneš is computer software, mostly in the areas of the simulation and cotrol of the complex systems in the real time, and the artificial intelligence , expert systems , decision support systems, semantic Web and intelligent applications at the Internet. In these areas she managed over 30 software projects.  She has served either as a project coordinator or  Institute’s team leader in 20 EU-funded research projects ((WEB4WeB, PROMETEA, SARIB, I2E, STRiM, REFLECT, PERFECTION, HELENA, ICT-WEB-PROMS, HydroWEEE, EnergyWARDEN, EMILI, GREEN, PROCEED, CESAR, METANET, FORSEE, CASCADE, LOD2, WEEEN. She has been teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Computer Science at the School of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade since 1995. During 1988 she was at the study stay at the University UCLA in the USA. In the school year 1993-1994 she was a Visiting Fellow at  the University  in Bristol, England., where she was involved both in teaching and in the reseraching projects (Eureka and BriteEuram). During 1994 and 1995 she held the series of the lectures at the University in London (King’s College London, Goldsmith’s College, London). In the period 1999-2005 she held numerous  seminars at the Institutes in Italy (ICS-UNIDO International Centre for Science and High Technology, ICTP-International Centre for Theoretical Physics, etc.).While Serbia was not elligible for the institutional participation in the EC Framework programme projects, she took part in these projects individually as a scientific counsultant on behalf of the Institute ICS-UNIDO and AREA Science Park from Trieste.

She served as an editor of the special editions of the international magazines Robotics and Computer Integratied Manufacturing International Journal (Pergamon Press/Elsevier Publisher) and Mathematics and Computers in Simulation (North Holland). She is a reviewer of the international magazines IEEE Computer and Advances in Engieneering Software (Elsevier). She is also a reviewer of the projects of the Sixth Framework Programme of EU. She is participating in the organization of the international scientificconferences and workshops .She was the President of the Organizing Comittee of the EURISCON European Robotics and Intelligent Systems Conference sponsored by  IEE and IEEE and held in Spain in 1994, and the co-president of the Organizing Committee of international conference   MEDIMEC 95 (The Second International Conference: Mechatronic in Medicine and Surgery) which was held under the patronage of IEE, IEEE i ImechE in England in 1995. She was the representative of Yugoslavia (later of Serbia and Montenegro) in the International Programme Comittees of many conferences  (Mechatronics 96, Portugal 1996, M2VIP, Australia 1997, IASTED Technical Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems for period 2002-2008, , IEEE EUROCON 2005, IASTED International Conference on Intelligent Systems and Control 2006, , IEEE Nikola Tesla Symposium 2006 IASTED International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Applications 2006, 2007, 2008, etc.), IASTED International Conference on Intelligent Systems and Control 2006, LIKE’07, LIKE’08, LIKE’09, LIKE’10, language technology conferences, European Conference on Knowledge Service Production, CENTERIS 2010 – Conference, etc.

.Sanja Vraneš published over 180 scientific papers, some of which in the most eminent magazines from the area of electrical engineering and computing (IEEE Transactions). She was granted the best paper award from the Prof. Branko Raković fund in 1994. She was granted the award Nikola Tesla for the achievements in the area of technical sciences  for 1996. She has also received two awards for the best software package. She has served as an Expert of United Nations for the area of the information technologies from 1999, and as an Expert of the European Commision from  2005. She is a member of the professional associations IEEE, IEEE Computer Society and ACM. She was elected the highest scientific title ( Scientific counsellor) in 2003. She has been a member of the National Scientific Council for two mandates. She speaks Serbian, English, Italian, Russian and some French.
